Hi guys-
The last few days, I've had a clicking type of pain on the side of my foot - below my ankle but not heel pain or plantar fasciaitis. Has anyone had anything similar - I can run through it, but want to see a doctor if it is something that could get more serious. Thoughts? |

I had something similar before, it would even hurt while walking! I just rested and it went away by itself, it felt like a little shock with each step.
Definitely go to a doctor though if you're unsure. |

This happened to me several years ago because I wasn't wearing supportive enough running shoes (I over-pronate) and I was wearing flats and flip flops with no support during the day. I ended up having to take 6mos. off because I thought I would just run through it. Try wearing shoes with a 1" heel and get your running shoes fitted at a shop where they actually watch you run. Ice, ice, ice.

something similar happened to me... I started experiencing a weird pain on just the uncle and went to the Dr. The first one told me that I had Tendonitis and asked me not to exercise for 6 weeks, since the pain was still there after the 6 weeks I went to a different Dr and he prescribed custom orthodics for my sneakers, but even with those the pain was still there.
I finally went to a 3rd Dr and told me that all I needed to do is wear different running shoes and it worked like a charm!! If you have the same problem I do you should use Asics Gel Kayano or Nike Air Structure Triax. Good Luck! |

Gretchen,
You should see a podiatrist (rather than a GP or even orthopedist). The foot is itself a specialty, so you want to see such a specialist. Years ago I developed plantar fasciitis and for treatment saw the head of orthopedics at Fairfax Hospital. His diagnosis was shin splints despite the fact that my tibia was fine. After doing my own research I determined the cause to be PF and made my own orthotics to treat/cure it. But, if I had seen a podiatrist from the start, I might have been able to prevent what ended up becoming a long-lasting, chronic condition. -G |
