and party like Rock Stars afterwards!!

16th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge 2012

What's the Plunge?

Join us for the 16th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge – THE event of winter! Since 1997, nearly 70,000 people have braved the bitter waters of the Chesapeake Bay in support of Special Olympics Maryland, and we invite you to sign up to be a part of the celebration on January 28, 2012. It’s the coolest event around, with plenty of chills, thrills, and fun for the whole family.

PlungeFest – the free winter festival that is offered at no cost all day long at Sandy Point State Park.

Don’t be left out of the cold. Register today for the 2012 Plunge and let the fun begin!

All it takes to take the Plunge is $50 in pledges and nerves of steel. The festival is open to all spectators free of charge.

Who does this benefit?

The MSP Polar Bear Plunge benefits Special Olympics Maryland and the thousands of children and adults with intellectual disabilities who experience the life-changing benefits of participating in the organization's year-round training and competition programs - all at no cost to themselves or their families.

What to expect for first-time Plungers:

Expect the most fun you’ll ever have at the beach in January! You should expect a very large crowd and lots of energy. In addition to the “main event” (the actual Plunge into the Bay!), the Plunge Fest offers  live music, vendors and crafters, watch a wood carver or a team of sand sculptors at work, participate in a spirited costume contest, buy some great Plunge gear or other food and drink, and mingle with about 15,000 fellow Plungers as you all gear up for the chilly dip into the Chesapeake.

We need at least 10 people to form a team. Team work makes a dream work, so if we have the people let us combine our powers.

Hey Everyone! Be sure to register for the 1 PM plunge time.

We can figure out rides/carpooling once everyone is registered and we have an accurate head count.

Hey everyone - registration is still open. Mel - we don't have a team, so you can register as an individual.

Michael - do you have space in your car so others can carpool?
