Location: Corner of 7th St. and Constitution Avenue NW
(Sculpture Garden)
Every Friday afternoon during the summer, the National Gallery
of Art puts on a free jazz concert in the sculpture garden. It
starts at 5PM and goes until 8:30PM. There are only two Friday
concerts left in the summer concert series for this year. I am
going this Friday and wanted to know if anyone else wanted to
join me. I am going to try and get there early (4ish) because
I live only a few blocks away. Hopefully I can set up a
blanket or two and stake out a good spot. It’s usually a
pretty big crowd and something different to do in DC. Most
people bring blankets, food, and beverages and enjoy the sun
and free concert. Archives/Navy Memorial (Green/Yellow line)
is the closest metro but you can walk from Judiciary Square
(Red) or Smithsonian (Orange). More information on the concert
is at the National Gallery of Art website below:
UPDATE 1: For a better idea of the exact meetup location, I will be setting up in Area #12 per the Sculpture Garden Map shown here:
I will also provide my phone number to those that are going via email through IRYR (prior to Friday) in case you get lost. Again, look for me and others in Area 12. I will have a blanket (or two) but please bring your own refreshments or plan to buy from the vendors there. I will probably also bring some cards and some dice in case anyone thinks they can beat me in Yahtzee...ok, just kidding. Hope to see you there. Thanks to Pete for the additional info!
UPDATE 1 is posted. It addresses some questions. You are welcome to bring friends.
