Saturday Run - 60 Min or 19 Miles

We're going to do something a bit different this week...

We'll start up at the Roosevelt Island parking lot (free parking). For those of you driving, please note that the parking lot is ONLY accessible from the northbound lane of GW parkway (right after passing under Roosevelt Bridge). Of course, street parking is also available in Rosslyn, just remember to put money in the meter.

We will be running 5 miles into the C&O Canal Trail (unpaved trail) and turning back around (if you're having a run shorter than 10 miles, you'll be turning back sooner). Those of you running less than 19 miles, can end your run at 10 miles, the rest of you, do not go back on the Key Bridge, we will continue on, running at the Georgetown waterfront, following the river all the way into Hains Point. Right after completing the tip at Hains Point, you'll retrace your steps back through the Georgetown Waterfront, taking K Street up to the Key Bridge, for a total of 19 miles.

A detailed map can be found here: http://www.mapmyrun.c...

If you want a shorter long run, join us for 60 minutes, for those marathon training, your goal is to run 19 miles. Or of course, you can go as short or as long as you want to.

Those of you who cannot run that long, no worries. A walk/run pace is perfectly fine.

I hope to see you then!

Katy, yes, once the weather cools down we'll go back to our old schedule.

Sounds like fun as usual! The sun won't be up on Saturday until 6:30, should we push the time back to then?

Mickey, we run that early to beat the heat... There should be enough sun to lighten up the trail like last weekend.

    Hi Carla -

What's the average pace of the group going out for 19miles...

Kathy, there's no average pace of the group. We have some runners who do 7 min/mile and others who run 12 min/miles, and anything in between.
