Theodore Roosevelt Island (map)
We'll start up at the Roosevelt Island parking lot (free parking). For those of you driving, please note that the parking lot is ONLY accessible from the northbound lane of GW parkway (right after passing under Roosevelt Bridge). Of course, street parking is also available in Rosslyn, just remember to put money in the meter.
We will be running towards Shirlington, we haven't done this route in ages! We'll start from the Island, run south on Mt. Vernon Trail. When the trail splits, instead of going towards Alexandria, as we do on weekdays, we will be going towards Four Mile Run. Keep following Four Mile Run, and once it ends in Shirlington at the light, cross the street and take the trail to the left of the creek -- keep following that trail past Walter Reed Rd into the woods, then reconnect to the 4 Mile Run trail again after getting to George Mason Dr.
A detailed map can be found here: http://www.mapmyrun.c... (It's not as complicated as it sounds, I promise!) or you can just click on the picture on the side.
(Those of you who have met with us in Shirlington in the past, will be very familiar with the trail from Shirlington.)
If you want a shorter long run, join us for 60 minutes, for those marathon training, your goal is to run 18 miles. Or of course, you can go as short or as long as you want to.
Those of you who cannot run that long, no worries. A walk/run pace is perfectly fine.
I hope to see you then!
Those training for the Marine Corps Marathon are scheduled to run 15 miles this morning.
Ashley, true beginners can join too!! We all started there someday. Really!!!
If anyone is interested in meeting up at Luna's in Shirlington for breakfast around 9ish let me know. I'm going to chow down prolly before heading to my noon bikram class. I will not be starting and ending with everyone.
- so, where exactly do I go to meet everyone? I guess I'll look for the shirt and ask, "meetup? I run you run?"
Sorry I missed it guys. I wasn't feeling well when I woke up this morning. Hope you all had a good run.
For those of you not familiar with the route, keep in mind it's all in paved trails.
