Ok guys, after constant meetup emails, the start time for the run tomorrow has officially been changed for 6am, same bat place and time (did I really just say that?).
Those of you who don't want to get up that early, feel free to show up at 7am, I bet there will be others out there.
Now back to your regular program (and please let's stop with the comments, my email is getting overloaded and there's no way to turn it off!)
After running out of parking spots this weekend at the Roosevelt Island (and not yet ready to wake up even earlier on Saturdays...), let's meet up this Saturday at our guaranteed-enough-parking-spots-garage and try out a route we haven't done in a while!
Let's meet up at the Free Parking Garage in Crystal City (let's meet right outside by the entrance of the garage on 18 st, between the metro and Crystal Dr., where we meet on weekdays). Head out to Mt. Vernon trail and when the trail splits, turn right and head north, towards DC.
We'll then be taking the 14th street bridge into DC, running around the Tidal Basin, and turning into Ohio Dr. right before getting to the Jefferson Memorial (and completing a full loop). We'll down head out to Hains Point, going on the opposite side that we did this last weekend, once we hit the 7 mile mark, we'll turn back around and retrace our route to Crystal City.
Click on the picture above, for a quick map of the route, or click here for full information: http://www.mapmyrun.c...
Of course, there's an option of 60 minutes for all of you who want a shorter run this weekend -- you'll be turning around shortly after the bridge. Or you can run any distance you feel comfortable with! Please don't let the high mileage of those of us training for a marathon intimidate you (we're far from an intimidating bunch!).
If you can't run the whole thing yet and need to run/walk, you're welcome to join the group as well!
If you're training for the Marine Corps Marathon, the training schedule calls for 11 miles this Saturday.
PLEASE NOTE: The metro is not yet open at this time (what the hell, DC?) so if you don't drive and need a ride in lieu of being able to take the metro, please post it on your RSVP or on the comments section.
Hey everyone! The weather is going to be over 100 degrees on Saturday. A few people expressed interest in starting earlier so we're going to meet at 6am if anyone else wants to join.
7am for me! Waking up at 5am on a Saturday? Hahahahaha. Or at least not ready for that just yet :)
Is anyone going to be running 14 miles? I'm training for the MCM, would love some company.
If I can wake up, I'd like to do 6am... Blair, Jun? And I'll be doing 14 miles.
Jane - I decided that I'm just going to start from crystal city @7am. I'm definitely running 60mins or more, but not 14 miles.
Jessi - I can give you a ride. I live near Rosslyn too.
I don't love running that much. Jane, it looks like I'm most likely not going to make it because I'm going out tonight. I like to party a little after working 5 days.
Ok--update... I'll be starting from Iwo Jima around 6am. Hopefully I'll see the other early risers on the trail!
Brand new... and can only run about 2 miles so far. Anyone else in that range attending?
Miranda/Jane- are you both starting at 6am? are you meeting at Iwo Jima? I am definitely up for starting at 6 to beat the heat. (this will be my first run w the group- training for NY and have to do 13 this weekend)
- Iwo Jima sounds good. I will definitely be running under 14 miles, probably more like 5 or less haha!
Sorry for the confusion! The main meetup is at 7am at Crystal City. People will also be meeting at CCity at 6am. I will be starting from Iwo Jima at 6am.
Yes, guys, meetup details have not changed -- Crystal City, 7am, all the details above. Some people decided to do their own thing, and posted it here, but unless the details are changed on the info page, nothing else changes.
(And Noreen, even though you're running less than we are, doesn't mean you can't join us for a bit! You have to start somewhere!)
And by the way, enough meetup "A comment was just posted for Saturday Run" emails for now, no? Am I the only one getting overwhelmed?
If i can run, it will be at 6am, where's the rallying point? Not too familiar with Iwo Jima, so I will need directions:)
Hey Jessi, if you can't find a ride, Jane is starting from Rosslyn and meeting us around the 14 St Bridge, since it's about the same distance. You can meet up with her.
