Theodore Roosevelt Island (map)
This is a make up day for the Saturday run for those who decided to skip the rain. All details below are the same, except run is now on Sunday.
Another 7am long run to try to beat the heat!
Let's get back to the Capital Crescent Trail, though it's not the prettiest route, it is the most shaded. So let's take a bit of shelter from the sun, and run on the CCT!
We'll start up at the Roosevelt Island parking lot (free parking). It's walking distance from the metro (just take the trail on the right, right before the Key Bridge, but I heard the metro is not open at 7am yet?). For those of you driving, please note that the parking lot is ONLY accessible from the northbound lane of GW parkway. You will see it right after the Roosevelt Bridge. Of course, street parking is also available in Rosslyn, just remember to put money in the meter.
We will be going up to Rosslyn, crossing the Key Bridge, and taking the paved Capital Crescent Trail (right next to the C&O Canal unpaved trail). If you want a shorter long run, join us for 60 minutes, for those marathon training, your goal is to run 12 miles. Or of course, you can go as short or as long as you want to.
Those of you who cannot run that long, no worries. A walk/run pace is perfectly fine.
I hope to see you then!
Those training for the Marine Corps Marathon are scheduled to run 9 miles this morning.
