Doubletree Hotel Crystal City-National Airport (map)
I've done this 5k twice (it was actually my first race ever!), and it is always a good time. Plus, plenty of food and beer at the end and a ginormous American Flag at the start/finish. And you get a medal when you cross the finish line!
This is an evening 5k on a Saturday night, so you'll have the rest of the weekend to enjoy. And this year it'll actually be on 9/11.
Nearby metro stations include Pentagon, Pentagon City and Crystal City, plus there's plenty of parking in Crystal City.
Go to http://www.arlington9... for more details.
Once you register don't forget to come back and change the rsvp so we know who else will be there.
Let's meet at the entrance to our usual garage and walk over to the race site at 5:15pm. For the late comers, we'll be near the Double Tree sign.
For those of you who know Angela (one of our organizers!), she's back from the sandbox and will be at the race! Let's give her a warm welcome back home!
Let's meet up at our usual garage in Crystal City (in 18th st, between Crystal Dr and the metro). Get there a bit early and at 5:15 we'll walk over to the Double Tree hotel (so plan on arriving before 5:15...). That will give you enough time to chill before the race, do baggage check if you need to, etc. Note that metro is working on the tracks and there will be metro delay that day (check out the race site for info). I'll see you then!
Hey guys, FYI, the garage will be closed from 5:30pm to 6:30pm on Saturday (I think the race route goes through that street). So make sure to get there before then (another reason to meet up with the group!). Since the race starts at 6pm, the 6:30pm shouldn't really affect us (there's food and beer at the finish line, so stick around!)
!! Gray - If you haven't registered yet, I have a bib (not picked up yet). I thought this was a morning race and I completely forgot that I'd gotten ticket to Lord of the Rings at Wolftrap with the NSO.
If anyone else is interested, let me know - I'll pass on my confirmation email so that you can pick up the bib in my name ;)
Hate that I'm missing this one :-;
Gray, Have you picket it up yet? If I can't get a taker, I'm hoping someone can pick up my T-shirt - but only if they have to pick up their bib too (no extra trips for a T!)
Same here! I am not able to make the race even though I paid. I would love to get my T-shirt.
Hi Sherry, I can't remember - is it a technical T? If it is, I'm totally thinking of going down there to pick it up. If you want me to get yours send me an email.
Tatiana, its not a tech shirt, its a long sleeve cotton shirt. and they're huge! i wish i'd gotten a smaller size.
I still have to get my packet, so I'll meet everyone at the hotel!
Perfect weather for this and lots of "encouragers" along the route.
It was perfect weather & I was honored to be running with all the police, firefighters, military & first responders. Thanks for coordinating the shirts Carla!!
If anyone is interested I'm doing the Chic-fil-a 5K run on 9/11 it benefits Freedom Alliance.
