If you've successfully registered for the Cherry Blossom (results will be posted on December 15th), RSVP here. To register for the lottery, go to: http://www.cherryblos...
There's also a 5k, if you aren't ready for a 10 miler yet.
If you want a guaranteed spot for the 2011 race, sign up to volunteer for this year's race. Karl and I will be working the info booth, while Margaret will be helping with the t-shirt distribution the day before the race. To volunteer, go to: http://www.cherryblos.... Make sure to note you're with "I Run, You Run" in the group selection!
Hope you guys can make it!
My friend and I weren't selected :'-( If anyone has extra bibs to transfer, please let me know...thanks!
Cheering section, anyone? Ben--I will even do photo duty for you since you'll be running the race.
For those of you running (and for anyone cheering that wants to meet with us pre-race), we'll be meeting at 7am at the SW corner of 14th and Constitution (basically the corner that's closest to the race start). Don't be late -- we'll wait there until about 7:15 at the latest.
I'll be driving to our usual garage in Crystal City and taking the metro from there -- last year we had to get to the CC metro by 6:25am to grab the train, it'll likely be the same this year, if anyone wants to metro together. I'll send an update/email a couple of days before the race!
Jane, I'm glad that you took over the photo duty. I'll set the ISO on the camera beforehand and set the white balance on the day of the race! P.S. Practice up on your facial recognition skills, you'll need it!
Jane, and remember, I'll be on the back of the pack, you better not go partying it up with the early finishers and miss me make my "I'm about to die" running face! I'll try to smile when I see you though...
Is anyone pacing less than 8 minutes/mile? Let me know!
Piyush, I think Karl is running at his usual pace (instead of pacing me), and he definitely runs at less than 8 min/mile.
Hey guys, two things -- for those of you volunteering on Saturday morning, we'll be meeting at the Crystal City metro (right at the platform) at 7:45am on Saturday, so we can make our way to the volunteer place.
For the rest of you running on Sunday -- do you have a group t-shirt? How about we finally wear them out, since it'll be warm enough for short sleeves?
I'm going to shoot for low 70's (I usually am under 7:30 per mile at this distance.) Will certainly run with you Piyush if you're aiming there as well. Good luck either way.
Joy and I are volunteering Saturday and I was thinking of wearing my group t-shirt running as well!
Gavin, Joy -- no point in wearing the t-shirt when you volunteer :( You'll get a volunteer t-shirt when you're there, and you have to wear that the whole time (but yay, you get a free t-shirt!)
I meant was planning to wear it on the run on Sunday.
Yay! From your comment I thought you guys were just volunteering on Saturday (and not running). I read it too quickly!
Jeff, please follow the discussion. Read Carla's post 5th from the bottom.
Thanks, Teanau. Apparently my natural inclination to tune out anything Carla says applies online as well as in the real world. I'm glad my name isn't Karl, or I'd really be in trouble. :)
Ah, all the love that oozes out of the members of this group brings tears to my eyes! Jeff, you better be wearing your group shirt this time, or I'll keep your packet hostage.
What was that? I think I heard something. Something about wearing my official 'I Run, You Run' shirt. If only it didn't make my nipples chafe.
Dealing with cold/allergy, but can not miss the excitement of this run.
Good luck to all.
Hope everyone had fun. Was hoping to meet up but got caught in the port-a-john line-of-death. Barely made it to the start!
I too was stuck in that potty line for 30 min (what a nightmare)! And then I couldn't find you guys after the race :(
On a positive note - the weather was perfect!
Anyone running the GW Pkwy run in two weeks?
Missed a lot of you guys out there, but glad I bumped into Erin and Tracey. Thanks, Carla, for taking care of my bib and packet for me! That was a great race. :D
btw - I ran into Tatiana! Nice to finally meet you! Hope you had a great run.
Hey guys, make sure to only RSVP yes, once you know for sure you got in.
