This will be another super-early-because-it's-too-freaking-hot run. But hey, at least you get it done early enough to enjoy your day and even get back to bed for a nap, no?
Let's get back to the Capital Crescent Trail, it's not the most interesting route, but it's shaded. So let's take a bit of shelter from the scorching sun, and run on the CCT!
We'll start up at the Roosevelt Island parking lot (free parking). It's walking distance from the metro (just take the trail on the right, right before the Key Bridge, but I heard the metro is not open at 7am yet?). For those of you driving, please note that the parking lot is ONLY accessible from the northbound lane of GW parkway. You will see it right after the Roosevelt Bridge. Of course, street parking is also available in Rosslyn, just remember to put money in the meter.
We will be going up to Rosslyn, crossing the Key Bridge, and taking the paved Capital Crescent Trail (right next to the C&O Canal unpaved trail). If you want a shorter long run, join us for 60 minutes, for those marathon training, your goal is to run 15 miles. Or of course, you can go as short or as long as you want to.
Those of you who cannot run that long, no worries. A walk/run pace is perfectly fine.
I hope to see you then!
Those training for the Marine Corps Marathon are scheduled to run 12 miles this morning.

Great--thanks!

(You will still be in Virginia and this is just before you enter DC on 395 North)
Get on 395 North. Get to the left side of 395 North, there will be an exit Stating George Washington PKWY North. Take that exit to GW PKWY. Keep right on GW PKWY and drive for about 3-4 Miles until you see a Brown looking sign that says Theodore Roosevelt Island - parking will be on the right side. Park there. Its a big parking lot and you cannot miss the sign unless you drive too fast.
Can someone send me reliable directions to get the parking lot? I'll be coming in from Falls Church and taking 66-E.
pps - Welcome back, Rob. Great profile pic, but who's the dude in the blue shirt?
The most important question of the morning is: What's for breakfast afterward?
Dammmmnnnnn this is early but...I am committed and shooting for 10+ miles;) Not sure if I can hang for 15...
