If you're looking for a low-key, easy 5K (maybe your first?), this is the race for you.
Every day, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for our safety and protection. Organized by the DC Metropolitan Police Department, this 5K “Race to Remember” is a chance to show your appreciation for the service and sacrifice of law enforcement – and enjoy a running course that takes you past some of the pillars of democracy in the Nation’s Capital.
A variety of prizes, including unique law enforcement-related merchandise, will be awarded to the top three men’s and women’s runners overall, as well as the top two runners (men and women) in standard 10-year age categories.
The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge located at 711 4th Street NW will be open before and after the event for a reception and everyone is welcome. Cash bar and limited restaurant items will be available. Stick around after the run and watch the Redskins play the Kansas City Chiefs at 1:00 pm.
Starting at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC’s historic Judiciary Square, runners will race the streets of our Nation’s Capital, passing some of our country’s most recognizable and cherished landmarks, including the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the National Mall and various Smithsonian institutions.
